چکیده
Optical data transfer has become ubiquitous in the readout and control systems of High Energy Physics Experiments. We review motivations for this describe first large-scale deployments optical links LHC experiments. The current state art form common developments upgrade programmes is then summarised. Finally, new technologies techniques are reviewed confronted with needs across broad spectrum potential future applications Physics.

Radiation Detectors in High Energy Physics*
Spark chambers, scintillation and Cerenkov detectors are used extensively in high energy physics experiments. The potential usefulness of semiconductor detectors is being investigated. There is a need for detectors which will identify very high energy particles. The various types of spark chambers are briefly reviewed, including narrow gap, wide gap and filmless chambers. Applications of scinti...
متن کاملRadiation Damage in Silicon Detectors for High-Energy Physics Experiments
Radiation effects in silicon detectors are discussed in view of their application in future high-energy physics experiments. An overview is given of the major changes in the operational parameters due to radiation damage and their origin in the radiation-induced microscopic disorder in the silicon bulk. The principal radiation hardening technologies are described that have been adopted by the h...

The previous sessions have borne witness to the fact &at high energy accelerator and storage ring technology is a.subject of continuing vitality. Nothing dramatizes this more convincingly than the chart (Fig. 1) which shows the growth in energy of the world’s accelerators in time. If one includes in this chart the equivalent laboratory energy of existing and projected colliding beam storage rin...
متن کاملHigh Energy Physics GRID
Computing is one of the technologies associated to High Energy Physics (HEP). The needs of the next generation CERN HEP experiments push the development of new computing architectures. The scale of data will be orders of magnitude larger than the one we currently have. In this talk we will present the current status of GRID computing development.
